Live Webcams of Sights and Landmarks
What landmark webcams show
Landmark webcams point at the places people travel to see: palaces, towers, cathedrals, fortresses, old town streets and famous viewpoints. The camera is usually placed the way a postcard would frame the scene, with the landmark in the middle and everyday life around it.
Such a camera is a way to return to a place, or to see it before a trip. It shows how crowded the entrance is, how long the queue gets at midday, what the light is like in the evening and whether scaffolding is hiding part of a façade. People who once stood on the same spot often come back to the camera on an anniversary, or just to see how the place is doing.
Tourist sights follow the travel season. In summer and on public holidays the crowds peak from late morning to afternoon, early mornings are nearly empty, and evening illumination turns many buildings into a different picture altogether. Ceremonies, the changing of the guard and seasonal decorations appear on camera too.
