Skytree and Sumida River, Kachidoki Live Cam

This camera looks out from a high-rise in Kachidoki, Tokyo, over the Sumida River towards the slim spire of Tokyo Skytree on the horizon. Tall residential towers stand on the left, while a dense mix of rooftops and streets fills the foreground down to the water.

Kachidoki lies in Chuo City on land reclaimed from Tokyo Bay near the mouth of the Sumida. Once an area of warehouses and workshops, it has filled with apartment towers over the past two decades. Tokyo Skytree, opened in 2012 in Sumida City, is 634 metres tall and the highest structure in Japan.

This view faces the opposite way from the westward camera on the same spot, which watches the former Tsukiji market site. Here the river curves through the middle of the frame, and on clear days Skytree stands out above the low skyline of the eastern wards.
