Koto Waterfront from Ariake Live Cam

This camera looks east from a high-rise in Ariake over the apartment blocks, canals and warehouses of the Koto waterfront in Tokyo. A tall residential tower stands close on the left, and the bay shows on the horizon.

Ariake, Shinonome and the neighbouring districts of Koto Ward stand on land reclaimed from Tokyo Bay during the twentieth century. Canals separate the islands, and some of these waterways still serve barges and port work. Since the 2000s, residential towers have risen beside the older warehouses and logistics centres.

The middle of the frame is taken up by a wide canal crowded with moored work barges and crane boats painted orange and green. Beyond the warehouses on its far bank, more islands and the open water of the bay reach the horizon. An expressway curves through the lower right corner.
