Portals Vells Bay, Mallorca Live Cam

This view looks down over Portals Vells Bay in south-west Mallorca, where sailing yachts lie at anchor below pine-covered hills. A pale sandstone point juts into the water in the middle of the frame, and a small beach sits at the end of the cove to its left.

Portals Vells lies in the municipality of Calvià, south of Sol de Mallorca. Narrow arms of the sea cut inland here between rocks and pine woods, each ending in a short sandy beach. Sandstone was quarried on this shore in the Middle Ages, and one of the old quarry caves later became a small chapel.

The camera looks across the bay from its eastern shore, above a small harbour whose quay wall and moored boats run along the bottom of the picture. Only a few villas are scattered across the wooded slopes.
