Tokyo Skytree Live Cam

Tokyo Skytree rises beyond the low roofs of Sumida ward in this view, in the east of central Tokyo, Japan. The tower rises 634 metres above the district and is lit through the night in colours that change on a set schedule.

Skytree was built as a broadcast mast, because the older Tokyo Tower had been overtaken by the height of the surrounding buildings, and it opened in 2012 with observation decks at 350 and 450 metres. A shopping complex and an aquarium occupy the base.

In low cloud the upper half disappears entirely and only the lit stem shows. On clear winter evenings the whole shaft stands out against the sky, which is when this frame is worth watching.
