Weather and time
This camera looks south from a high-rise in Ariake, Tokyo, over the looping ramps of Shinonome Junction toward Tokyo Big Sight. A school sports ground lies just below, and the water of Tokyo Bay fills the left side of the frame.
Shinonome Junction opened in 2009 and links the Bayshore Route of the Shuto Expressway with the Route 10 Harumi Line. Despite its name, it stands in Ariake, next to the Shinonome district of Koto Ward. Beyond the ramps rise the exhibition halls of Tokyo Big Sight, the largest convention centre in Japan, opened in 1996.
From this height the curving viaducts can be followed from end to end, with traffic moving between the two expressways. A tall residential tower frames the right edge, while open lots and parking areas stretch toward the halls. Farther out, the wooded Central Breakwater and port cranes line the horizon.
