Weather and time
This view looks along a paved lane lined with maple trees toward a tiled-roof gate on the approach to Eikando Temple in Kyoto. A few walkers come and go along the lane, and signposts and a red stop sign stand beside the road.
Eikando is the common name of Zenrin-ji, a Buddhist temple in Sakyo Ward that dates back to the ninth century. It is widely known for its autumn foliage and for the Mikaeri Amida, a statue of Amida Buddha looking back over its shoulder. The temple lies at the foot of the Higashiyama hills.
The fixed camera looks down the lane from a raised point, with a red stop sign and signposts at the right and a neighbouring roof at the left edge. The gate and the trees stay in the middle of the picture while the people in the foreground change through the day.
