Higashi Honganji Temple Live Cam

This live HD webcam takes you to Kyoto, the cultural capital of Japan, on the island of Honshu. It shows Higashi Hongan-ji (東本願寺), one of the two head temples of Shin Buddhism. Originally built in 1658, it is also known as the Eastern Temple of the Original Vow and is often called Ohigashi-san in Kyoto. At the centre of the temple, the Founder's Hall is one of the world's largest wooden structures and holds a wooden image of Shinran, the founder of Jōdo Shinshū Buddhism. Within the grounds is a 12th-century mausoleum containing Shinran's ashes, and the temple is surrounded by a garden with flowers through the year.
