Daigoji Temple, Kyoto Live Cam

This camera watches a broad paved approach at Daigoji Temple in the Daigo district of Fushimi Ward, Kyoto. Tall pines and a white plastered wall with a tiled roof line the path toward a dark wooden gate.

Daigoji is the head temple of the Daigo branch of Shingon Buddhism, founded in 874 by the monk Shobo. It is one of the sites of the Historic Monuments of Ancient Kyoto, listed by UNESCO in 1994, and is famous for cherry blossoms, including the viewing party held by Toyotomi Hideyoshi in 1598.

From a raised position the camera covers the stone-paved square, two wooden benches, a low railing and a notice board at the right edge. The tall pine trunks in the foreground frame the view, and the gate at the end of the path is its focal point.
