Kashi Vishwanath Temple, India Live Cam

The sanctum of the Kashi Vishwanath temple lies below this webcam at Varanasi, in Uttar Pradesh, India. Priests attend the lingam below the lens, and flowers, water and offerings cover the silver-clad floor around it.

The temple is one of the twelve jyotirlinga shrines of Shiva and among the most visited in the country. The present building dates from 1780 and its spire was gold-plated in the 1830s; a broad corridor down to the river was cleared through the surrounding lanes in 2021.

Rituals are performed at set hours from before dawn until late at night, with the mantra Om Namah Shivaya chanted through them. On Shiva festivals the queue outside runs for hours.
