The green copper domes of the synagogue stand on the right in this view over Štúrovo námestie and Hviezdoslavova Street in Trenčín. Pedestrians cross the paved square below, and old houses with red tiled roofs fill the middle of the frame.

Štúrovo námestie in the centre of Trenčín is named after Ľudovít Štúr, who codified the Slovak literary language in the 1840s. The synagogue on the square was completed in 1913 to a design by Richard Scheibner, a Berlin-based architect born in Trenčín, and mixes Byzantine and Art Nouveau styles. After restoration it serves as a cultural centre for exhibitions and concerts.

Unlike the view along Mierové námestie, this frame looks away from the castle, toward the newer part of the centre and hills on the horizon. The main dome of the synagogue and a smaller one beside it are seen from above, close to the camera.
