Horní náměstí, Slavičín Live Cam

This camera looks over Horní náměstí, the upper square of Slavičín, where a stone fountain sits in a ring of paving and lawns. It pans slowly from the open plaza and a row of parked cars to the shops and houses across the street.

Slavičín is a town of about 6,200 people in the Zlín Region, some 24 km south-east of Zlín, in the Vizovice Highlands. Its whole municipal area lies within the Bílé Karpaty Protected Landscape Area. First recorded in 1141, it grew from a farming village into an industrial town and gained town status in 1964. The town museum also stands on this square.

The fountain is a low triangular basin topped with a stone sphere. At one end of the sweep stand a black pavilion and low houses; at the other, a pink building with a pharmacy, a furniture shop and a yellow house, with a church spire on the wooded hill behind.
