Weather and time
This camera looks out from the south observation deck of Terminal 2 at Taoyuan International Airport over the gates and the south runway. Jets are serviced at the jet bridges of Concourse C below, while others taxi out and climb away.
The airport opened in 1979 as Chiang Kai-shek International Airport and took its present name in 2006. It is the largest airport in Taiwan and the main hub of China Airlines, EVA Air and Starlux Airlines. The south runway, 05R/23L, is 3,800 metres long, the longer of the two.
The view changes between the row of gates with green-tailed EVA Air jets, wider shots over the apron with catering trucks, and close-ups of tails on the taxiway. Unlike the north deck, this side faces inland: apartment towers of Taoyuan rise beyond the runway, with a line of mountains behind them on clear days.
