Live Airport Webcams
What airport webcams show
Airport webcams show runways, taxiways and aprons in real time, so planes can be watched taking off and landing without standing at the fence. Some are run by airports, others by plane spotters or nearby hotels, which is why a view can take in the whole airfield or just one runway end.
What the camera shows depends on the wind. Aircraft take off and land into the wind, so the same runway is used in opposite directions on different days. A camera that shows touchdowns in the morning may show only departures after the wind turns, and the other way round.
Traffic follows the timetable. Large hubs handle arrivals and departures in waves, often in the morning and evening, while holiday airports are busiest at weekends in high season. Fog and low cloud show up on the picture before they turn into delays, and at night runway and taxiway lights stay visible when the rest of the frame is dark.
