Sanxia Old Street, South Section Live Cam

This view looks south along the southern section of Sanxia Old Street in New Taipei, lined with restored brick shophouses. Name plaques decorate their parapets, and a wooded hill rises above the rooftops at the far end of the street.

In the 1910s, under Japanese rule, the shophouses of the town's main trading street received arched fronts and ornate facades. Renamed Minquan Street in 1945, it fell into disrepair until a restoration from 2004 to 2007 that used materials close to the originals. Indigo dyeing was once a major local trade, and a dyeing visitor centre stands just west of the street.

Fixed on the east side, the camera follows the western row of arcades, hung with shop signs, potted plants and flags. The lane forms a long perspective toward its southern end, while a companion camera at the same point covers the northern section.
