Weather and time
This camera faces the stone torii at the entrance of Oharano Shrine in Oharano, Nishikyo Ward, in western Kyoto. A tall stone name pillar stands beside the gate, with a stone retaining wall and steps behind.
Oharano Shrine dates back to the late eighth century and enshrines the Kasuga deities of the Fujiwara clan. It lies in the quiet Oharano area at the foot of the western hills and is known for the Sengan-zakura cherry tree in spring and for autumn colour. The main halls are a short walk uphill from this torii.
The camera looks across a narrow road that curves away on the left toward the gate. Beside the torii stand a small shrine with a red stand and a signboard, and dense trees cover the slope behind the stone wall.
