Roermond TV Tower Live Cam

The Roermond TV Tower rises above trees and low rooftops in this view, its slender concrete shaft crowned by a tall steel antenna mast. The camera watches it from the ECI site, looking south-west towards the Roer-Zuid district.

Built between 1955 and 1958, the tower belonged to the first national network of Dutch television transmitters and began broadcasting in September 1958. Its concrete shaft stands more than 100 metres tall and shares its design with the tower in Markelo. Today it carries radio, television and mobile network equipment as well as a data centre.

The framing stays the same, with the tower in the middle of the picture above a band of trees and flat-roofed buildings and open sky filling most of the frame. After dark its red aviation lights remain visible, and on some evenings the shaft is lit in colour.
