Lighthouse, South Haven Live Cam

The red tower of the South Haven South Pierhead Light stands at the end of the pier, with the open water of Lake Michigan beyond it. Anglers work both sides of the concrete walkway.

A light has marked this entrance since 1872, and the present cast-iron tower dates from the early twentieth century. The steel catwalk running the length of the pier is the original one, built so the keeper could reach the light when waves were breaking over the deck.

The pier guards the mouth of the Black River, which forms the harbour of South Haven, Michigan. This webcam pans through a full circle, so the town waterfront, the beach and the lake horizon all come round in turn.
