Elkhart Amtrak Station, Indiana Live Cam

The Amtrak station platform in Elkhart, Indiana, looks out over the tracks to a freight yard stretching away beyond the platform edge. The pan-tilt camera sits by the station canopy and usually frames the platform and the tracks beyond.

Elkhart lies on Norfolk Southern's Chicago Line, the former New York Central main line between Chicago and New York. The station stands about 100 miles east of Chicago, and Amtrak's Capitol Limited and Lake Shore Limited stop here. Nearby is Robert Young Yard, a large Norfolk Southern classification yard.

In its usual view the camera looks past the red brick paving and light poles toward a long stretch of tracks and freight cars, with a lone tree on the horizon. At times it also turns across the tracks to a green-roofed building with concrete planters in the foreground.
