Weather and time
A wide view of the treetops around the bald eagle nest at ND-LEEF in St. Patrick's County Park, on the northern edge of South Bend, Indiana. Tall deciduous trees fill the lower half of the frame under open sky.
The camera was installed in 2026 on a pole beside the pavilion of ND-LEEF, the University of Notre Dame's research site of experimental ponds, streams and wetlands. It follows the eagles when they are away from the nest, which the camera mounted over the nest cannot show. Bald eagles have nested here since 2015.
The adults often perch in the trees to the west of this camera, so the wide view can catch them resting nearby and flying in. In October the crowns turn yellow and bronze. A bar along the top shows the date, time and current temperature.
