Chesterton Jackson Boulevard, Indiana Live Cam

Crossing signals stand beside a tangle of tracks at North Jackson Boulevard in Chesterton, Indiana, just east of Porter Junction. The fixed camera looks east across the road where the rails fan out toward the horizon.

Porter Junction, at milepost 482.1 about 50 miles east of Chicago, is where Norfolk Southern's Chicago Line, Amtrak's Michigan Line and CSX's Grand Rapids and Porter Subdivisions come together. Besides Norfolk Southern freights, the line carries CPKC trains, the Lake Shore Limited and Michigan services such as the Wolverine, Blue Water and Pere Marquette.

The frame shows the crossing mast with flashing lights and a crossbuck in the centre, cracked pavement in the foreground and a gray signal cabinet by the tracks. A wall of trees closes the view on the left, and the tracks run off toward the right.
