Weather and time
This camera looks down into a rock cutting on the Tampere–Seinäjoki main line, about a kilometre north of Tampere railway station. A double track curves through the cutting beneath overhead line gantries, with a wooded rock wall rising on the far side.
Tampere is the largest inland city in the Nordic countries and a major junction of the Finnish rail network. Further west, at Lielahti, the line divides into the routes to Pori and Seinäjoki, and trains on this stretch run on to Vaasa and to Rovaniemi in Lapland. Freight trains share the tracks with passenger services.
The view follows the tracks from a fenced embankment on the Armonkallio side to the bend towards the station, where signals stand under the far gantries. An on-screen panel lists the next trains with their times and destinations beside a small track diagram.
