Weather and time
A fixed camera on the platform at Spartanburg Station in South Carolina looks north along the Norfolk Southern tracks. The brick depot with its sloping roof fills the right side of the frame.
Spartanburg earned the nickname Hub City in the early twentieth century, when seven rail lines of four railroads met here, and the Southern Railway opened a union depot in 1904. The surviving building now houses a railroad museum and an Amtrak waiting room for the Crescent between New York and New Orleans. Norfolk Southern's Charlotte District main line passes the platform as double track between Beaumont and Lyman.
The view does not move. A covered brick platform with a green museum sign on a post runs along the right edge, a black iron fence separates it from the tracks, and the rails lead away north past low piles of gravel and a line of green trees.
