Weather and time
Moored pontoon boats and floating docks fill a sheltered cove at Taylorsville Beach on Lake Hickory in North Carolina. The view runs out across open water to a wooded shoreline on the far side of the lake.
Lake Hickory is a reservoir on the Catawba River, held back by Oxford Dam, with roughly 4,200 acres of water and more than 100 miles of shoreline. Taylorsville Beach is a small lakeside community in Alexander County on the northern shore. The lake supplies drinking water to Hickory, Conover and Long View and is used for boating and fishing.
The camera looks down on the docks from the shore. A long central pier runs into the cove between rows of covered pontoon boats and smaller powerboats, and a stepped dock fills the foreground. The water of the lake has a brownish tint from river silt.
