Weather and time

The camera looks down on a large bald eagle nest of sticks in a tree on a wooded hillside in Johnson City, Tennessee. In the October frames the nest bowl is empty, apart from a sprig of leaves lying in its centre.

The nest site is on private land above Boone Lake, a Tennessee Valley Authority reservoir, near Winged Deer Park, from where the nest can be seen at a distance. It is the territory of the bald eagle pair Boone and Jolene. In September 2024 Hurricane Helene brought down the tree with their old nest, and volunteers built a platform in a nearby tree, which the pair later accepted.

The framing of this camera changes. Some frames show the whole bowl with the trunk and side branches, others zoom in on the sticks and leaves in its middle. A second Johnson City camera looks over the treetops instead of at the nest.
