Treetop Ridge View, Johnson City, Tennessee Live Cam

The camera looks out over the canopy of a forested hillside in Johnson City, Tennessee, toward a distant ridge on the horizon. In the October frames the leaves are turning orange and yellow, and the sky fills the upper part of the picture.

Johnson City lies in the Appalachian foothills of East Tennessee, not far from the North Carolina border, and the hills around it are mostly wooded. This is one of three Johnson City views run by a university project that monitors the bald eagle pair Boone and Jolene, whose nest stands on a hillside above Boone Lake. Here the forest around the nest site is in view, not the nest itself.

The framing of this camera changes from day to day. In some views the horizon is tilted and the sky takes up much of the picture, in others the leaves of nearby branches fill most of it.
