South Jefferson Avenue runs straight through the middle of West Jefferson, with the green ridges of the Blue Ridge standing behind the shopfronts. A painted mural covers the side wall of one building.

The street doubles as state highway NC-194. West Jefferson sits at about 3,000 feet in Ashe County, in the north western corner of North Carolina, and the murals along its blocks were commissioned over the past two decades.

Ashe County Cheese has operated here since 1930 and is the oldest cheese plant in the state, a few streets from this webcam. The stream is provided by a local estate agency, and the frame catches the town at its busiest around midday.
