Hongdae Seoul Live, Korea Cam

The crossing outside Hongik University station is one of the busiest in Seoul, in the Hongdae district of the city. The webcam looks down on the traffic and the crowds on the corner.

The area takes its name and its character from the art school a few streets away. Cheap studios around it turned into clubs and galleries in the 1990s, and the streets became the place where bands and buskers in Korea start.

The station below is where the city subway meets the airport line, so a good part of what crosses this junction is arriving from Incheon with luggage. The district has been steadily priced up by its own success.
