Thomasville Depot, North Carolina Live Cam

Two Norfolk Southern tracks meet the Fisher Ferry grade crossing by the historic depot in Thomasville, North Carolina. The camera looks south across the parking lot to the crossing gates and a signal gantry over the road.

The depot dates from about 1871 and now houses the Thomasville Visitors Center. It first served the Richmond and Danville Railroad and later the Southern Railway. The tracks belong to Norfolk Southern's Danville District of the Piedmont Division, the former Southern main line between Washington, D.C., and Atlanta, and Amtrak's Crescent, Carolinian and Piedmont services pass through town.

A trimmed hedge borders the ballast and the lot in the foreground. Across the crossing stand low brick buildings and tall trees, while cabinets and crossing masts with signal lights line the right edge of the frame.
