Southeast Bird Feeder, North Carolina Live Cam

A cardinal drops onto the seed tray at this backyard feeding station in the Piedmont region of North Carolina. Several hangers and platform feeders stand within the frame, and bare winter woodland closes the background.

The Piedmont is the rolling plateau between the Atlantic coastal plain and the Blue Ridge, with mixed pine and hardwood forest across most of it. Northern cardinals, blue jays, tufted titmice, Carolina chickadees and downy woodpeckers are the regulars at feeders like this one.

Squirrels raid the trays as often as the birds do, and the log laid across the platform is the usual approach route. Activity on the webcam peaks in the first hours after sunrise and again before dusk.
