Weather and time
This view looks across the waterhole at Onguma The Fort, a lodge on the eastern edge of Etosha National Park in northern Namibia. A broad acacia stands on the far bank, with pale calcrete ground in front and low bush running to a flat horizon.
Onguma Nature Reserve is a private reserve of almost 36,000 hectares beside the eastern gate of Etosha. The Fort sits above this waterhole and looks toward Fischer’s Pan, a shallow seasonal pan inside the park. The land around it is dry savanna of grass, thorn scrub and scattered trees.
The camera does not hold one frame: it zooms in on animals at the water’s edge, such as a blue wildebeest at midday, and turns toward the open ground beside the pool. In the widest view the umbrella-shaped acacia, a fallen branch in the water and white stones on the right bank mark the spot.
