Ecomare Underwater Seal Pool, De Koog Live Cam

This underwater camera looks into a seal pool at Ecomare in De Koog on the Dutch island of Texel, with seals gliding past the lens. The frame shows the pool wall, a rock platform on the floor and the water surface above.

Ecomare is a nature centre and seal sanctuary in the dunes of De Koog, on the North Sea side of Texel. It cares for sick and injured seals and returns them to the sea once they recover, while animals that could not survive in the wild stay on as permanent residents.

Unlike a camera on the pool edge, this one sits under the waterline and keeps a fixed view. A rock covered in green algae and a few branches lie on the platform in the foreground, vents run along the pool wall, and seals pass at different distances. The water has a blue-green tint by day, and the picture turns grey after dark.
