Texel Lighthouse, North Holland Live Cam

The Eierland lighthouse stands in front of this view at the northern tip of Texel, the largest of the Dutch Wadden Islands. The red tower stands above the dunes with the keeper's houses beside it, and a road runs up to it through the grass.

The lighthouse was built in 1864 to mark the channel between Texel and Vlieland, and it stands 34 metres tall with a staircase open to visitors. It was badly damaged in the fighting on the island at the very end of the Second World War and rebuilt afterwards.

North of the tower the beach runs out to the tip where the North Sea meets the Wadden. The stream comes from a restaurant beside the dunes.
