Sheep Farm Texel Cam Live

The sheep barn at Schapenboerderij Texel stands near Den Burg on Texel, the largest of the Dutch Wadden islands, in North Holland. Ewes marked with stock crayon lie on straw down the length of the shed.

Texel gave its name to a breed exported worldwide for its heavy muscling, and the island has kept more sheep than people for most of its recorded history. Lambing runs from February into April, which is when the pens are fullest.

The camera looks along the feeding passage from one end of the barn. Outside the season the flock moves to the polders and the dykes, where grazing keeps the grass short enough for the water board to inspect the banks.
