Petten Beach Live Cam

The beach at Petten runs across this webcam view, on the North Sea coast of the province of North Holland. Beach machinery works on the sand below the lens, and the shoreline runs north in a straight line to the horizon.

Behind this beach lies the Hondsbossche sea defence, a stretch of coast where the dune line is missing and a dyke holds the sea out instead. In 2015 millions of cubic metres of sand were pumped in front of it, which is why the beach here is so wide and so flat.

Wind is the constant: kites and buggies use the hard sand, and winter storms rework the whole profile in a few days. The village behind lives on farming and the summer season.
