Yuriage is a coastal district of Natori City, south of Sendai, on the Pacific coast of Miyagi Prefecture. Its fishing port stands near the mouth of the Natori River, and the district is known for its seafood morning market. The 2011 Great East Japan Earthquake and tsunami hit the area hard, and raised seawalls now line the shore.

The framing stays the same: the embankment fills the middle of the picture, a concrete stairway climbs to its crest, and the ocean horizon shows above it. The curved road leads toward the port facilities at the far right. The camera faces east, so on clear mornings the sun rises over the water.
