Alagoa Beach, Porto da Cruz Live Cam

Praia da Alagoa at Porto da Cruz lies below this view, on the northern coast of Madeira in Portugal. A paved terrace stands in the foreground, and dark volcanic rock and surf fill the shoreline beyond it.

Porto da Cruz lies in the municipality of Machico under steep terraced slopes. The old rum distillery in the village still crushes sugar cane with a steam engine, one of very few anywhere that does, and the beach itself is the best known surf spot on this side of the island.

The north coast takes the Atlantic swell head on, so the surf here is heavier than anywhere on the south. This is the third Madeira camera in the catalogue, alongside Porto Moniz and the airport.
