Live Surf Webcams

What surf webcams show

Surf webcams watch surf breaks: beach breaks, reef and point breaks, and the line-up of surfers waiting for a set. They are often run by surf schools, shops and clubs, and are framed to show the waves rather than the beach.

A surf cam is a decision tool. A few minutes of watching show how big the sets are, how often they come, whether the waves are clean or blown out by onshore wind and how crowded the line-up is. Surfers compare what they see with the swell forecast and the tide table, because the same spot can be flat at low tide and pumping a few hours later.

Morning sessions are often the cleanest, before the sea breeze picks up. The seasons matter too: many coasts get their biggest and most consistent swell in autumn and winter, while summer brings smaller waves and beginners. Kitesurfers and windsurfers use the same cameras on windy days, when surfers stay at home.
