Hookipa Beach, Camperduin Live Cam

This Hookipa is not the one in Hawaii: it is a beach club at Camperduin, on the North Sea coast of North Holland. The webcam looks along the sand towards the dunes.

The Dutch coast here is a line of dunes with no natural harbour for fifty kilometres either way, and the beach is straight, wide and grey. A weak point at this spot was reinforced with a sand engine in 2015, several million cubic metres pumped ashore, leaving a lagoon behind the new beach.

Kite and windsurf schools work off this stretch because the wind comes off the sea most days and the water stays shallow a long way out. The dunes at Schoorl behind are the highest in the country, at about fifty metres.
