Hatsu Beach, Okagaki Live Cam

This camera overlooks Hatsu Beach in the town of Okagaki on the northern coast of Fukuoka Prefecture, Kyushu. It looks northwest over the sea and rows of concrete breakwater blocks toward a wooded headland with the village of Hatsu at its foot.

Okagaki lies in Onga District, roughly halfway between the cities of Fukuoka and Kitakyushu. Hatsu Beach is a long, gently curving sandy shore that Japan's Ministry of the Environment named one of the 100 Best Bathing Beaches in 2006. Swimming season runs from early July to mid-August, and in winter the beach is a well-known surfing spot.

The camera stands at the western end of the beach, so the frame is mostly sea and sky, with the fishing port of Hatsu and the hills behind it. The harbour wall at the right edge marks the end of the headland.
