Beppu Bay, Japan Live Cam

Route 10 runs along the shore of Beppu Bay in Oita Prefecture, Japan, directly beneath this webcam on the hillside. Traffic moves between the cities of Oita and Beppu below the lens, and concrete blocks armour the beach on the seaward side.

Beppu Bay opens onto the Seto Inland Sea on the northeastern coast of Kyushu, and the strip of flat ground between the hills and the water carries the highway, the railway and everything built along it. Beppu, at the far end of the bay, sits on one of the largest hot spring fields in the country.

The far shore is visible on clear days and disappears entirely in summer haze. Headlights make the curve of the road easy to follow after dark, and the operator's caption with the date runs across the top of the frame.
