Kanmon Strait, Moji Live Cam

This camera looks west across the Kanmon Strait from the Moji shore of Kitakyushu toward the city of Shimonoseki. The Shimonoseki Kaikyo Yume Tower and a Ferris wheel stand on the far waterfront, and the Kanmon Bridge closes the view on the right.

The strait separates Kyushu from Honshu, with Moji in Fukuoka Prefecture on the near side and Shimonoseki in Yamaguchi Prefecture opposite. Apartment blocks, hotels and low waterfront buildings line the far shore below green hills.

In the foreground a long stone breakwater with a small white lighthouse reaches into the water, and a pier on the right is used by a white patrol vessel and small boats. From this raised viewpoint, ships passing through the strait cross the view in the middle distance.
