JBay Supertubes, South Africa Live Cam

The Supertubes break at Jeffreys Bay runs across this view, on the Eastern Cape coast of South Africa. Lines of swell peel down the point in the middle of the frame, with surfers sitting out along the reef.

Supertubes is one of the fastest right-hand point breaks anywhere: a wave can run several hundred metres along the reef in one ride. The World Surf League holds an event here in July, when the winter swell is most reliable, and the town fills for it.

Offshore wind in the early morning holds the wave face clean, which is when the line-up in view is busiest. The stream comes from a guesthouse above the beach.
