Weather and time
This camera looks over Les Huttes beach at the northern end of Oléron, down a sandy path that cuts through the dunes to the shore. A weathered metal shed with a ribbed roof fills the lower left of the frame.
Les Huttes is a village of Saint-Denis-d'Oléron, on the island's Atlantic side about 4.5 km from the Chassiron lighthouse, and its beach is used for surfing, paddleboarding and windsurfing. Dune scrub and low wooden fencing separate the paths from the open sand.
The frame stays on one stretch of coast: the beach runs off to the left toward a distant wooded headland, the sea opens on the right, and a thin mast stands above the dune grass. Clouds take up much of the picture, so changing light and the tide line are the main things that move from hour to hour.
