Blue Island Broadway South View, Illinois Live Cam

Looking south from the Broadway Street crossing in Blue Island, Illinois, this fixed view follows a spread of tracks toward a railroad overpass. Trees fill the middle distance.

Blue Island lies on the Calumet Sag Channel at the southern edge of Chicago, and rail lines have crossed the city since 1852. Metra's Rock Island District now crosses the freight corridor on an overpass, while lines of CSX and the Indiana Harbor Belt run side by side beneath it.

The foreground shows gravel between the tracks, a gray signal cabinet at the left and young trees in front of the lens. The overpass with its concrete piers sits at the right edge of the frame, and the tracks run off in that direction.
