Illinois Railway Museum Barn 9 Live Cam

The yard outside Barn 9 fills this webcam view at the Illinois Railway Museum in Union, west of Chicago. An orange diesel locomotive stands on the near track, with a steam locomotive tender beside it and the depot buildings behind.

This is the largest railway museum in the United States by collection, with several hundred pieces of stock — steam and diesel locomotives, interurban cars, streetcars and coaches — kept in numbered barns across the site. Much of it is operational and runs on the museum's own demonstration line.

Operating days fill the yard with movements; between them the frame is stock standing where it was left. Restoration work goes on inside the barn behind the camera.
