Brunel Holiday Park, Dawlish Live Cam

The sea wall railway at Dawlish Warren runs below this view, on the south coast of Devon in England. Old railway carriages converted into holiday accommodation stand in the foreground, with the line and the beach beyond them.

This is the stretch of the Great Western main line that Brunel laid along the shore, the only rail route into Cornwall and the one that storms regularly close — the sea took out the wall at Dawlish in 2014 and severed the line for two months. Trains pass a few metres from the sand.

The sandy spit of Dawlish Warren behind the camera is a nature reserve for wading birds. Winter gales throw water right over the line in view.
