Weather and time
The camera at Rochelle Railroad Park in Rochelle, Illinois, looks down a double-track line to the diamond where two main lines cross. A signal gantry, relay cabinets and a short length of rail on a timber display frame the foreground.
The crossing joins the BNSF Aurora Subdivision, the former Chicago, Burlington & Quincy line toward the Twin Cities, with the Union Pacific Geneva Subdivision, which follows the old Chicago & North Western route to Omaha. Rochelle lies about 80 miles west of Chicago. The park beside the junction was dedicated in 1998 and has a covered pavilion, restrooms and a preserved Whitcomb locomotive.
The view turns during the day: the usual position looks straight at the crossing with houses and trees on the left, while others swing toward the signal gantry and the tracks on the right.
