Weather and time
This camera looks past a bald eagle nest in a sycamore toward the Monongahela River valley at the Irvin Plant in West Mifflin, Pennsylvania. The nest sits in the lower left corner, while the river, the far shore and a truss bridge open up in the upper right.
The Irvin Plant is a steel mill on high ground above the Monongahela in West Mifflin, a borough southeast of Pittsburgh. The valley has been lined with steelworks for more than a century, yet stretches of wooded riverbank remain between the mills. The eagles built their nest on one of these slopes, below the plant buildings.
Of the cameras around this nest, this one gives the widest outlook. A heavy sycamore limb leads from the nest across the treetops to the water, and the view shows how high above the river the nest sits.
