Weather and time
This camera shows a bald eagle nest in a riverside sycamore at the Irvin Plant in West Mifflin, with the Monongahela River directly behind it. The nest sits low in the frame beside the pale trunk, and the water and the wooded far bank fill the background.
The nest was built in 2019 on the wooded bank below the plant buildings. Eaglets fledged from it every year from 2020 to 2025, one or two each season. The site lies a few miles upriver from the Hays and Glen Hazel neighborhoods of Pittsburgh, where another pair of bald eagles nests on the same river.
Compared with the other cameras at this nest, the framing here is lower and closer. The sycamore trunk rises through the middle of the picture, and the rim of the nest appears right against the water behind it.
